## Square Numbers and Cube Numbers

Powers are sometimes called indices, index notation or exponents. The first 12 square numbers are: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144. The first 5 cubes numbers are: 1, 8, 27, 64, 125. Square and cube numbers can be memorised or worked out. 2 squared means 2 x 2, and 2 cubed means 2 x 2 x 2. 5 squared would be 5 x 5 and 5 cubed would be 5 x 5 x 5.

## Square Root and Cube Root
